Lowther Castle is a lovely venue only about 2 miles away with dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens, an adventure playground, walking and cycling routes and a cafe.

Dalemain House contains a beautiful mixture of Medieval, Tudor & Georgian architecture situated in a landscape of rolling parkland, lakes and rugged Cumbrian hills. The gardens are also worth visiting. Yes it’s got a cafe too! (Be aware that Dalemain is closed on Saturdays)

Mirehouse is charming family run historic house with gardens, lakeshore and woodland playgrounds which is three miles from Keswick. The gardens offer views of the dramatic Lakeland landscape. The house offers a very relaxed welcome with many unique literary connections and beautiful collections, while enjoying the live piano music and children’s activities, as you wander through this family home.
Wordsworth House is very interesting house presented as it would have been when Wordsworth lived there in the 1770s, along with a charming garden.
Hutton in the Forest is a historic house with an 18th-century walled garden with herbaceous plants, terraces, topiary, a dovecote and woodland walk through specimen trees.
Larch Cottage is a local family owned garden center with an RHS partner garden. It also has Casa Verde restaraunt.
